A H-D Sportster is up for grabs at this months BikeFest

As cute as a puppy!

This years BikeFest in Killarney is shaping up to be another great shindig. Originally set up in conjunction with Harley-Davidson, the three day event now attracts riders from all over the country and further afield. There are a couple of reasons for. The neighbourhood is full of brilliant roads. Mountain passes that overlook the Atlantic and some of the best ‘twisties’ that any rider could wish for, and good people to ride them with.

At last years event there were a lot of other motorcycle brands in Killarney for the weekend. There was a particularly noticeable quantity of ‘tall tourers’ of all shapes and sizes. The H-D people still bring a fleet of bikes with them to be test ridden and anyone with a full licence is more than welcome to take a spin.

Win a legend

It wouldn’t be a motorcycle event if we as a community didn’t support a worthy charity. BikeFest is no different. This year Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind are benefiting from the raffle for a 2008 883 from the Sportster family.

As a charity Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind have provided and continue to provide a very unique and important service to those who need it most. For the last 45 years they’ve helped countless vision impaired people to have a better quality of life. This is possible as the dogs offer people more mobility and in turn more independence.

A classic H-D is up for grabs

It’s not only the visually impaired that benefit from the teams efforts. Guide dogs are also trained to assist children who have autism

All of this good work involves changing lives for the positive. A whole host of people are involved. These include people who train the dogs, board them, breed them and socialise them. All of these people are supported by a team of volunteers and the charities own staff.

The raffle for the 883, which is worth €7,750, takes place on Sunday June the 2nd. Additionally the bike has been fully prepped by the team at Waterford Harley-Davidson. Tickets are only €5 each and available from the charities website.
