Principal Masters

Updated: Apr 23

After a year off due to the, now well known, insurance issues short circuit racing is back and back with a full calendar.

When the series was last run in 2022 it drew the largest crowds ever, had some of the closest racing and the very best finish ever seen at the circuit.

This year the season opens on the 20th of April at Mondello park here in Kildare where all of the rounds will be raced.

A full schedule includes no fewer than seven meetings over the season. The rest of the meetings will be two day events with one each month until September.

An initial pre-season test weekend has already been run in March, warming everyone up and setting down the markers for the coming season. All of the usual riders will be on the grid, with Derek Shiels and Alan Kenny heading up the SuperBike class in what can only be described as a championship where riding styles and personalities promise to clash in a hugely competitive and entertaining way!

The class is being joined this year by the newly promoted trio of Andrew Whearty, Daniel Matheson and Jamie Collins.

It's not all about who’s on track. We, the fans of fast moving, hugely competitive racing, will be able to purchase tickets from the masters website; www.masterssuperbike.ie. For those who can’t make it to the races there is always the option to view all the meetings online. The entire Superbike and Supersport races will be broadcast live from track. This is in addition to one race from each of the supporting classes.

From this year all Masters events will run under the Principal Insurance banner. The new series will be called The Principal Insurance Masters title as will the main Superbike class.

In the meantime it falls to me to wish everyone a successful, safe and enjoyable series. See you in the paddock!
