Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide Ultra

Updated: Feb 28

A higher calling

Iconic and perfectly presented

The American road system is enormous. Being such a big country it has an awful lot to offer any motorcyclist from mountain passes to long interstates and some of the best costal rides in the world. It’s a paradise for any motorcyclist. But the one that has defined American motorcycling has to be the Harley-Davidson brand. They’ve been consistently making genre defining motorcycles for over 120 years. At this point and the range consists of everything from ground breaking electric bikes to some of the most comfortable tourers ever made.

One of the iconic machines in the range, there are several, is the road Glide Ultra. A classic tourer with comfort, control, and an unmistakable Big Harley silhouette. All it needs is a bit of ‘special’ to make it truly stand out. Finding one that’s “CVO” special guarantees that the bike will, indeed, be special.

Touring Luxury

For years Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) has produced some of the best bikes in the Harley range. CVO exists within the H-D operation but is a separate line to build stand out bikes, which feature unique finishes of one-off paint schemes and extras that aren’t usually seen on stock models. Another plus point is that CVO bikes are built in limited numbers, which means maybe three or four models per country. When Waterford Harley-Davidson gets a CVO – new or second-hand – it’s worth the team shouting about it. Today’s shoutout is they have a 2015 CVO Road Glide Ultra in stock and ready to roll.

Powered by a Screamin’ Eagle developed V-twin that displaces a healthy 1,801cc, the bike has all that’s needed to take on any long-haul road complete with pillion and half of my partner’s wardrobe – yes, this CVO has the largest luggage capacity of any of H-D’s Grand American Touring models.

Huge luggage capacity

Being detailed with the CVO treatment sees the bike coming fully loaded with a host of extras that don’t appear on the standard bike. These include cruise control, a Bluetooth connection that marries the rider’s phone to the bike as well as heated seats and grips.

Add all this together and that summer tour of north to southern Europe is not only easily accessible, but also definitely tops any riders ‘must do’ lists.
