The H-D Open Day is this weekend.
This weekend sees the weather finally turning for the better with sunshine and a bit of warmth forecast. It’s the perfect time for those of you who’ve been hibernating for the last few months to dust of your bikes and kit and get back out on the road. It’s also the time of year that the dealerships start talking about the coming season and first out of the traps is Waterford Harley Davidson.

One of the big challenges that Harley-Davidson face coming into their product launch for this year is the rapidly changing import tax situation. I can’t actually use the ‘T’ word without getting upset. I also can’t use the other ‘T’ word, also without getting upset! For the time being, as the situation is quite ‘fluid’ the American company have announced that they will be soaking up the new costs, at least until the end of the month.
On a more positive note the team at the dealership will have a selection of brand new 2025 bikes available to test ride.

The first one up is the new Pan America ST. While the Pan America has been around for several years now, the ST model is a new addition with a lower seat, cast 17” wheels and a significant road bias. It still manages to keep the bikes looks and road presence, but many riders might also find it easier to ride, thanks to features such as the quick shifter and dedicated road tyres.

The new Road Glide has a newly designed aerodynamic Sharknose fairing and is powered by a liquid-cooled Milwaukee-Eight® 117 engine. There’s 130 ft-lb of torque in a lighter, easier to handle package. From the same touring family comes the Street Glide Ultra. This is the grand tourer and comes with huge storage as well as all the new toys.

My very favourite Harley, the latest model of the Fat Boy will also be available to take a spin on all day this coming Saturday. Also on the fleet are the ‘lean and mean’ Street Bob and the Low Rider ST. All of these bikes are packed with up to the minute motorcycle technology while still retaining their classic looks.

Come along this Saturday, the 12 of April, and see how Americas motorcycle brand has evolved.
