From Zero to Hero

Zero get dirty for 2025

A duo of bikes dedicated to off road riding

Zero motorcycles, the Californian electric bike company have added a pair of new machines to their range. The new XE and the new XB are dedicated to off road adventures.

An electric motorcycle taking a moment to reflect on the, sometimes incredible, beauty that is life.

Off road would have to be regarded as one of the best /natural habitats for a two wheeled EV. While electric bikes suit urban use, particularly for the commute or sunday morning spin, the technology is also ready made for this kind of work where the demands for instant power are obvious and the short time spent riding as well as the short time spent on track make for the perfect proving ground. These two have the potential to take the rider from Zero to Hero at a rapid pace!

Zero to 100% in an instant!

Cleverly, the company has made a pair of bikes with lighter battery’s that are easier to reach optimum speed on as well as to jump, wheelie and generally have fun off road on. This is because the battery is so much smaller and lighter. The bikes even come with an extra one that can be swapped out with ease. We first saw this idea made real on Yamahas Neos last year where it works a treat. Charging the battery from empty to full takes only three hours from a regular domestic power supply.

An 832mm seat height on the XB is complimented with a top speed of 75 kph and 275 foot pounds of torque. In a 63 kilo package!

The XE on the other hand puts out a staggering 468 foot pounds of torque and weighs in at a heavier 101 kilos with a top speed of 85 kph. The seat height is also taller at 900mm, a more familiar height for those of us who like falling off an off road machine.

The battery charges to full in only three hours

I'm still hanging on that claimed weight of only 63 kilos! It’s incredibly light for an off road machine, never mind an electric one. The suspension is fully adjustable and the bike even comes with traction control that can be switched off. Like the road bikes, the choice of power modes can be added to with a personalised, customisable one that the rider can dial in for themselves.

"Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence".

Both the XE and the XB will be available from Franklin motorcycles in Baldoyle in the new year. Prices aren’t available yet, but we expect to be delighted at how reasonable they’re going to be.
