Eoin Ó Siochrú was introduced to motorcycling back in 2008. Eoin enjoyed his two stroke rite of passage by destroying and having to rebuild the engine of his NSR 125. He blew it up, not once, but twice. He was aided in his endeavours, rebuilding them and not destroying them, by a talented and very patient engineer and parts builder by the name of Kevin Coughlan of Steamer Industries fame.
In 2014 he entered his first race, cutting his teeth in the predecessor to the
Masters, the Irish Superbike Championship. Even though the race was on a rainy day in the wet he was bitten by the bug. He was now a motorcycle racer.
A short circuit habit then developed. This was soon followed by an introduction to Road Racing. Competing in the National Road Racing Championship quickly led to riding on the ‘Island’ in the Manx GP. He’s raced there for the last two years, placing top of the Irish competitors in class and now he’s getting ready to ride there again this season, but in the TT.
Are those sliders compulsory on the first time out?
The plan is to enter the 600s on an R6 as well in the Superstock class on his Triumph 765. Both will be raced under the Roadhouse Macau Racing banner with support from the legendary team. The project is being managed by top Irish road racer Brian McCormack.
Eoin has fidgeted with 765 to the extent that it’s now putting out a shade over 110bhp. All in all this is going to run him €30K between fuel, tyres, bike prep and entries. Roadhouse provide the R6, the build and the support of a seasoned team. Their structure is second to none.
In order to get there he has a number of sponsors. Two of the bigger and more generous ones are Maureen and Terry from the Coffee Knockdrawer Company as well as one of our old friend, Tim Gunning from Reactive Maintenance. Now Paul Creevey from Motocraft has also thrown in with a chance to win a trackday trip to Catalunya in August.

The trip is a three day affair at the legendary Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. It runs from August 26th-28th. In addition to having those three days on one of the most iconic tracks in Europe, Motocraft are also providing accommodation and bike transport to and from Dublin.
