Arenacross comes to Belfast

Arenacross is coming to Belfast again

Waiting for the gate to drop!

Arenacross comes to Belfast again at the end of this month with two shows on the 31st of January and the 1st of February.

I’m a big fan and I’ve taken in the event over the last few years. It keeps getting more entertaining and enjoyable.

While it’s predominantly a race event there is a whole lot more going on. Since it’s held indoors at the SSE Arena in the citys Titanic quarter there’s arena seating so all the spectators can see what’s going on. There’s no just getting one corner to view from!

The show runs for three hours and is ridden by some of the most talented riders that I’ve seen riding freestyle motocross bikes.

The best kit, bikes and riders

The sheer height that these riders jump at is phenomenal and the style they race with is impressive too. It takes a special kind of person to wave at the crowd while in mid-air on a 450cc dirt bike.

Then there’s the noise. While the crowd aren’t traditional racing fans they do get very enthusiastic and with their cheering and shouting it’s hard not to find the energy impressive.

There are a number of ticket options available including a VIP package that includes a track walk and a meet and greet with the riders as well as a selfie opportunity that even includes posing while sitting on their bikes. All of this is private and happens before the start of the show.

SSE Arena have a full bar as well as a bite to eat and the Arenacross team have plenty of merchandise on offer.

Real racing, real prize money

Freestyle motocross is always impressive but when the riders leave the ramp, jump to a height of 12 metres in the air, rotate the bike until it’s upside down and take it back again before landing  30 metres further down the track. When they start with the pyrotechnics it gets to be as much of a show as it is racing.

Ticket prices start at €49 and I’ll be there on Saturday, say hello if you see me!
