While we definitely don’t live in the worst place in the world where the weather is concerned, we do get quite a mix of the stuff. And, it’s best to be prepared. Not just the inclement weather, but also for those brilliant days when our summer seems endless. The good news is that both the Lindstands and Halvarssons range of bike clothing is now available in a number of great dealerships. Everyone loves a good adventure, but most of us like to stay dry and safe while doing so! That’s where the Wien jacket comes in. This offering from Halvarssons is a true multifunctional jacket. It manages to be breathable, while also being both wind and waterproof. There’s a lot of technical cleverness hidden away in what looks like a simple textile jacket.
The outer is made from an incredibly durable fabric, with ‘a 600D high tenacity PE weave’. What this means, in planer English, is that the fabric is incredibly strong. It’s ability to withstand the friction that naturally occurs in an accident rivals and frequently betters that of leather. At the same time its flexible enough to wear all day as it feels a lot lighter than leather ever could. It's also treated with Durable Water Repellent (DWR). What this stuff does is coat the fabric so that the water, or snow, won’t get to sit in the weave and therefore chill the rider as they move along on the bike. The water simply runs off the fabric as it would off a piece of smooth plastic. Very clever indeed.
Halvarssons Wien Jacket - Outlast
Adding Hi-Art reinforcement to the shoulders and elbows also adds to the riders safety while the fit is added to with features such as stretch panels on the back of the piece as well as a storm collar that can be easily detached. The collar itself as well as the hem, sleeve ends and the waist are all adjustable to fit. There is even a long zip connection to the pants. The jacket is rich in safety and comfort enhancing features. There are two removable liners. One is the highly functional Dryway+ 2.0. This, as the name suggests, repels moisture and the second one is an Outlast inner garment that can be worn as a separate jacket and all complimented with Innoborne insulation. The latter is cleverly compact so that it can be used effectively without making the jacket feel a lot bulkier.
The whole thing is CE certified to class “AA”. This is thanks to it being fitted with a full set of adjustable level 2, CE certified protectors at both the shoulders and the elbows. This armour can be supplemented with a back protector. Meanwhile, for those brilliant days when the sun beats down, there is a set of vented openings for increased circulation. And, of course, you can remove the thermal vest lining.
