Arai Urban V - Looking Cool

Staying Cool!

It just won’t do to be seen wandering about the hipper parts of town on ones café racer wearing a full-face helmet. After all how else is everyone to see your immaculately presented beard and cooler than cool vintage sunglasses. The problem is most of the open face offerings aren’t really up to the job. Then Arai step in and save the day with the new Urban-V helmet.

The new open-face helmet “blends classic style with cutting-edge protection, comfort and ventilation technology”. Rather cleverly the Japanese helmet specialists have married old school and new school all at once. The new lid is a classic retro-style open-face helmet. It is rich in period details like a traditional stitched faux leather edge trim and interior accents.

Because it’s an Arai it meets all the companies stringent in-house criteria as well as all the mandatory European standards. At the same time it’s packed with modern technical features that enhance both comfort and protection. We really like the hidden interior ventilation and the perfectly rounded outer-shell silhouette.

Arai Urban V Open Face Helmet

Arai Urban V - F1 Technology

The Urban-V is constructed from Peripherally Belted Complex Laminate Construction. This doesn’t just sound very impressive it manages to provide both strength and comfort thanks to it being so light! The helmet is designed and built with F1 technology. Behind the cool design hides a high-tech, one-piece Multi-Density EPS inner liner. The liner absorbs impact energy. The shell itself improves that all important ability to ‘glance off’ if it all goes horribly wrong.

The increased strength of the outer shell allowed Arai to include a Multi-Stage venting channel hidden away in the liner that helps ensures constant airflow through the helmet. Air enters via three forehead channels and flows over the head extracting heat. It’s collected into an integrated central channel, then exits through three channels into a Multi-Stage exhaust and ‘pulled’ out of the back of the helmet by the low pressure created by twin Venturi neckroll exhaust ports.

The interior is both Anti-Microbial and adjustable. In the interests of making a more comfortable fit they have added more and deeper cushioning, as well as developing a softer liner material. The interior liner system has also been constructed with an Anti-Microbial liner material. This, in turn, helps maintain a balanced pH level against the skin. In plain language that means that it helps the helmet stay fresher for longer. And you smell just that little bit better.

So if you want to look good, stay cool, be comfortable, and benefit from the protection only an Arai can offer, then ride free in Urban-V.
