A brand-new generation of Arai helmet has been released this week. The all new Arai Quantic is aimed at the sports-touring rider who wants dynamic, race-derived performance on the road. The new Quantic has been designed with cocoon-like, luxurious comfort and features suitable for long riding days.
Hard to miss is the new 3D Arai logo duct. This is complimented with an air-scoop chin vent, a set of dual tear-ducts and a one-piece rear exhaust/spoiler. All of which have been designed to deliver comprehensive and controllable cooling airflow.
Arai Quantic - Clever
While the helmet has not been designed for racing, it still has a lot of the elements that the company has learned from the track. There is the new smoother, rounder and stronger Peripherally Belted e-Complex Laminate Construction outer shell with VAS. The Quantic also has a 5mm flare around the base to ease access and, rather cleverly, it’s been designed for straightforward attachment of intercom systems.
As with every Arai, the Quantic is formed around protection. It’s also the first Arai full-face to go through the new, more rigorous ECE R22-06 standard. Manufactured by hand, the Quantic’s outer shell maintains the core strength that Arai is known for, but with a substantial weight reduction. A softer, multi-density EPS inner liner works with the outer shell to absorb impact energy. And the smoother, rounder and stronger shape is the first principle from which the R&D engineers worked from. While aesthetically sleek and pleasing, the Quantic is primarily designed to ‘glance-off’ and spread impact forces.
Arai Quantic - All Day Wear-ability
The new 3D Arai logo duct, air-scoop chin vent, F1-based dual tear-ducts and RX-7V Racing-derived one-piece rear exhaust/spoiler were developed in the wind tunnel, in real-road conditions and at Suzuka. Alongside the brow vents and flush-fit rear exhausts, the Quantic’s ventilation guarantees a consistent, controllable flow of cooling air via a total of 12 ports in the shell – and from low, around-town speeds.
All-day wear-ability was the key factor when developing the new helmet. So the 5mm flare around the base makes it easy to take on and off. The VAS MAX vision visor comes with a Pinlock insert ready to use. The new, brushed nylon interior is removable. It features Facial Contour System speaker pockets and neck roll wire pocket. Another feature is the Emergency Release System (ERS). And the Quantic has also been designed to accept an intercom with ease.
