Ok, it’s official. We’ve given up pushing against the tide. Those beards, too tight trousers and bikes with underpowered engines and crap suspension are here to stay. It would appear, dear reader, that the overly groomed ones have won. You may well have presumed that a global health crisis was the worst thing to have happened in recent times. The truth is that the damn hipsters have won and in spite of being ‘so over’ about ten years ago they just seem to be going from strength to strength.
The latest body blow comes from no less of a trustworthy source and former ally that is the people at our very own Arai helmets. The manufacturers of the very best helmet in the world have just released the first designs of the 2021 collection. It appears that we’ve stepped outside the cultural mainstream and embraced the fact that the IPA drinking, brown boot wearing, hair wax consuming, younger members of the design team have been allowed to have a go.
Arai Concept-X Overland - Nobuaki Kato
The result is the Arai Concept-X Overland. Let’s not say it too loud, but the result is quite good actually. The new design is available in two colour schemes and it starts off the new 2021 design collection. The guy responsible is the famous Japanese designer Nobuaki Kato. The helmet design, meanwhile, follows the natural shape and feeling of the previously established Concept-X.
Kato has highlighted specific features such as the ventilation slits on the front and back of the helmet as well as the visor holder. The result is a design and a helmet that truly supplement each other to form a design that will suit many styles from casual, the way it looks, to aggressive, the way it performs when needed.
There are two colour schemes available. They are Beige Khaki and Olive Khaki. Both of these colours will come in a matt finish. We really like the ‘strap’ that has been added to the design. While we haven’t seen one with a dark visor we know that this is going to look cool with one. We tentatively approve of the new logo on the side of the lid.
The new Arai Concept-X Overland will be available from December when the price will be announced. That is still no reason, what so ever, to make a big deal about not shaving and drinking black tea or asking for oat milk in your coffee. We’d suggest calling Megabikes on 01478 4200 and booking one before the cooler than cool staff buy the entire allocation for themselves…
