The new Chaser-X is the third Arai helmet to make use of the all new Variable Axis System (VAS). This new technology offers a significantly larger and smoother shell area above the SNELL test line. This in turn greatly improves the important glancing off performance of the helmet. The Arai Chaser-X also makes use of a completely new ventilation system, which has been derived from the RX-7V.
It’s instantly recognisable by the large, single intake duct on top of the helmet. This Top Ventilation System is derived from the RX-7V diffuser system. The replaceable interior is lined with an anti-microbial fabric. The Arai Chaser-X features the new Facial Contour System (FCS) and a fixed, non-retractable mini chin cover.
The chin vent is also new, while the Formula One developed visor lock system is the same as used on the RX-7V. All Chaser-X helmets come with a standard Max Vision visor with a Pinlock inlay lens separately packed in the box.
We really like the fact that there are several race replicas available as well as the plain colours and designs. As well as two Colin Edwards replicas, there is also a Mick Doohan one as well as a Kevin Schwantz one. Now the good news is that the collection has been added got with a Maverick Viñales replica. This particular design was only available as an RX7 until very recently.
Now it can be purchased in all sizes from Megabikes for only €649. This may sound a little on the expensive side. That is, until you consider that, as with all the helmets from the Arai range, this one comes with a five year warranty.
That works out at a little under €130 a year. Add that to the fact that you only have one head that will appreciate the very best protection that money can buy and all of a sudden, spending decent money on a lid of this standard makes a whole lot of sense.
To find our more drop in to Megabikes on Dublin's Wexford Street or give them and call on 014784200 to book a little time for a fitting.
