Knox Orsa – It’s Time To Break Out The Orsa’s

That golden orb in the sky and the warmth emanating from it indicates that summer has finally arrived. Summer means its time for lighter yet equally protective kit to the stuff we’ve been surviving winter with. For many of us it also means brighter colours and a more fashionable approach to our art. Enter the ‘Orsa’ glove from our friends in Knox.

The Knox Orsa is a perforated short cuff summer riding glove with nothing short of excellent protection, style as well as offering a superior fit. The glove is, of course, fully CE certified to the lofty EN 13594 – 2012 standard having passed no fewer than 15 different exacting glove tests.

The honeycomb gel that lives over a floating knuckle area is backed with memory foam and encapsulated in a strong outer shell, which allows it to absorb any unfortunate impacts.

Knox Orsa – Scaphoid Protection System

The body of the glove is made with a perforated goat skin upper which features abrasion resistant finger sliders on the top of the fingers. There is even touch Screen technology on the index finger for ease of sat nav and freedom sapping mobile phone use. The seamless finger ends feature wrap round construction for superior comfort.

The, now legendary, patented low profile Knox Scaphoid Protection System (SPS) on the palm is there to eliminate the grab effect that occurs when a leather palm makes contact with the road. This reduces the risk of hyperextension which can very easily be the cause of a broken scaphoid.

The strong goat skin palm with its soft memory foam double layer on high wear areas makes for a glove that will last. The unique low profile BOA wrist closure system eliminates the need for messy Velcro systems. The “Dialled in” micro adjustable fit slips easily under a summer jacket sleeve.

We’ve been wearing a pair of the Knox Orsa for the last two seasons and find them to be excellent, which is all we’d expect from a company of Knox’s stature. You can find them here in both AMI in Gorey, and Kennedy’s in Drogheda.
